ANC-PAC Rallies Support For
Congressman Adam Schiff July 11, 2007 Burbank, CA - Longtime and new supporters of the Armenian National Committee - Political Action Committee (ANC-PAC) joined together on July 5, 2007 to raise funds for Congressman Adam Schiff's reelection campaign. The event, held at the home of Harout and Vicky Marashlian in Burbank, California provided an excellent setting to salute a strong and determined champion of Armenian American issues in the U.S. Congress. "The ANC-PAC is pleased that so many community members were eager to attend our event in support Congressman Schiff," commented ANC-PAC spokesperson Ara Papazian. "The Congressman is a well known and respected figure in his Congressional District and beyond and for good reason. He is smart, principled and willing to challenge this or any other administration when they twist the truth on the Armenian Genocide," Papazian added. Serving as Platinum sponsors for the ANC-PAC fundraiser for Congressman Schiff were Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Houri Melkonian, Mr. and Mrs. Raffi and Aline Kradjian and Dr. Alber Karamanoukian. Dozens of other sponsors gave generously to ensure that Congressman Schiff's reelection campaign is adequately funded. On March 21, 2007 Congressman Schiff gained worldwide attention when he challenged U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for denying the Armenian Genocide. In a video from a hearing of the House Foreign Operations Appropriations Subcommittee, Congressman Schiff famously asked, "Is there any historic debate outside of Turkey [on the Armenian Genocide]? Is there any reputable historian you're aware of that takes issue with the fact that the murder of 1.5 million Armenians constituted genocide?" To view the video of the exchange between Congressman Schiff and Secretary Rice click on Hairenik TV. Over 25,000 individuals have already viewed this video link and witnessed a rare public airing of the U.S. State Department's participation in Turkey's genocide denial. The ANC-PAC is a non-partisan federally registered political action committee established to support campaign committees for Members of Congress who share the values of the Armenian American community. The ANC-PAC is at the forefront of efforts to ensure that the voice of the Armenian American community is clearly heard in our nation's capital. The ANC-PAC continues a century old tradition of Armenian Americans engagement on the public policy issues facing national political leaders, both in the U.S. Congress and the White House. |
