Texas Congressmembers Al Green and
Charles Gonzalez Endorsed by ANC-PAC October 24, 2006 HOUSTON, TX - The Armenian National Committee Political Action Committee (ANC PAC) announced today that it is endorsing US Representatives Al Green and Charles Gonzalez in their re-election bids for Congress this November. Green (D-TX) represents Texas' 9th Congressional District which covers Houston, including the Saint Kevork Armenian Church and a sizeable Texan Armenian community. In Congress, he co-sponsored H.Res.316, a resolution commemorating the Armenian Genocide. After meeting with the ANC of Texas and members of the Houston Armenian community, Green also co-sponsored H.R.3361, a bill preventing the USA from financing a railroad in the south Caucasus that intentionally excludes the Republic of Armenia. Green has also signed the annual letter urging President Bush to appropriately use the term genocide when issuing the presidential April 24th message. Representing Texas' 20th Congressional District in the San Antonio area, Gonzalez has been a strong supporter of Armenian American issues. He co-sponsored both Armenian Genocide resolutions in the 109th Congress, H.Res.316 and H.Con.Res.195. He has also co-sponsored H.R.3361. He has also made sure to keep in touch with his the community, meeting with ANC of Texas and several Texan Armenians from San Antonio this past August. Like Green, Gonzalez also has signed the annual letter President Bush requesting the appropriate use of the term genocide on April 24th. Gonzalez also co-signed, a May 22nd letter to Secretary of State Condaleza Rice expressing concern regarding the firing of US Ambassador to Armenia, John Marshall Evans, for the Ambassadors' remarks appropriately referring to the Armenian Genocide as such. The ANC-PAC is a non-partisan federally registered political action committee established to support campaign committees for Members of Congress who share the values of the Armenian American community.
