GLENDALE, CA - Citing his strong stand in the U.S. Senate against genocide denial - most notably his "hold" on the Bush Administration's nominee for U.S. Ambassador to Armenia - the Armenian National Committee - Political Action Committee (ANC-PAC) today called on Armenian Americans nationwide to support the candidacy of Bob Menendez for U.S. Senator from New Jersey. "Armenian Americans are proud to stand with Bob Menendez, a truly principled leader who shares our community's uncompromising commitment to truth and justice," said ANC-NJ Activist Kim Arzoumanian. "Armenian Americans, in the Garden State and throughout the United States, have been energized by Senator Menendez's courageous opposition to the Hoagland nomination, and look forward to standing shoulder to shoulder with him until the Administration ends its complicity in Turkey's shameful campaign to deny the Armenian Genocide." In support of its endorsement, ANC-PAC is working with grassroots activists in New Jersey to support the Menendez campaign, leading up to a get-out-the-vote effort on November 7th. This effort will focus on generating high voter-turnout in New Jersey's traditional Armenian population centers in Bergen, Hudson, Ocean, Monmouth, and Camden counties, as well as among Armenian households throughout the state, from Cape May and Camden to Princeton and Patterson. This September, Senator Menendez, who has consistently led pro-Armenian initiatives during his tenure in both the Senate and House, placed a "hold" on the nomination of Richard Hoagland as U.S. Ambassador to Armenia until the Administration abandons its denial of the Armenian Genocide. Throughout his years in Congress, Bob Menedez has consistently received "A" grades from the ANCA.
