ANC-PAC Endorses Congressman
George Radanovich Early Announcement Reflects Armenian American Enthusiasm
January 31, 2006
to Help Re-Elect Central Valley Legislator FRESNO, CA - The Armenian National Committee - Political Action Committee (ANC-PAC) announced its endorsement today of Congressman George Radanovich (R-CA), a respected legislator from California's Central Valley and a longtime leader of efforts to secure official U.S. recognition of the Armenian Genocide. Currently serving in his sixth term in the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman Radanovich represents California's 19th Congressional District. The Congressional District encompasses over 600,000 people who live in Central California's Stanislaus, Madera and Fresno counties. The Congressional District is home to members and supporters of the Central California Armenian National Committee, which enjoys an outstanding relationship with the Congressman. "As Armenian Americans, we respect Congressman Radanovich's leadership on behalf of his Armenian American constituents, and look forward to being part of his successful reelection to the 110th Congress this November," commented ANC-PAC Board member Ara J. Bedrosian. "His leadership on the Armenian Genocide Resolution that is currently pending in the House has earned him a grade of an A+ from the ANCA. The ANC-PAC urges all Armenian American voters - Democrats and Republicans - in the 19th Congressional District to vote for George Radanovich, volunteer on his campaign, urge their friends to support his candidacy, and to ensure that he has the financial resources he needs to win this November," added Bedrosian. Congressman George Radanovich is the author of H.R. 316, which calls upon the President to ensure that the foreign policy of the United States reflects appropriate understanding and sensitivity concerning issues related to human rights, ethnic cleansing, and genocide documented in the United States archives relating to the Armenian Genocide. The bill, which was overwhelmingly passed by the House International Relations Committee on September 15, 2005 by a margin of 40 to 7, is waiting for Republican leaders to report it the House floor for a vote. A California native, Congressman Radanovich was born in the Sierra foothills community of Mariposa in 1955. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural business management from California State Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo in 1978. The Congressman is married to the former Ethie Weaver, a California political consultant. They have one son, King. The Congressman currently serves on the Energy and Commerce Committee, as well as the Resources Committee, and is Chairman of the Resources Subcommittee on Water and Power. The ANC-PAC is a non-partisan federally registered political action committee established to support campaign committees for Members of Congress who share the values of the Armenian American community. The ANC-PAC is at the forefront of efforts to ensure that the voice of the Armenian American community is clearly heard in our nation's capital. The ANC-PAC continues a century old tradition of Armenian Americans engagement on the public policy issues facing national political leaders, both in the U.S. Congress and the White House. |
